National Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day

Happy National Healthcare Recruiter Recognition DayJune 4th is National Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day, and we would like to take this time to express our gratitude for the significant role you play in our healthcare system and for the extraordinary contribution you make in the lives of others and for healthcare organizations across the nation.

Healthcare recruiters share the unique, challenging, and (sometimes) thankless responsibility of attracting quality talent in one of the most demanding and fast-paced industries. As our nation experiences higher rates of healthcare worker shortages, the challenge is even greater than ever before.

According to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the US will see a shortage of almost 122,000 physicians by 2032, and nursing shortages are expected to surge to over a half a million by 2030.  In fact, there will be more registered nurse jobs available through 2022 than any other profession in the United States. The increasing demand for healthcare workers is not limited to just nurses and physician but also includes allied health professionals, technologists, coders, leaders, and support personnel.

Overall, healthcare job openings are at record highs, and hiring is not keeping up with the available job openings. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics,  employment in the healthcare and social assistance sector is projected to add nearly 4 million jobs by 2026, amounting to roughly one-third of all new jobs – making healthcare and social assistance the largest major sector by 2026.

The demand for healthcare services will continue to grow as the baby boomer population ages, people live longer, rates of chronic conditions increase, and healthcare coverage expands. The greatest challenge for healthcare recruiters will be finding qualified candidates for the millions of job openings available. For healthcare organizations, the challenge will be attracting and retaining the best talent.

So, as we embark upon National Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day, we applaud all the healthcare recruiters who have made a difference in the lives and careers of so many. You may not directly see the patients you are touching each day, but know that your work impacts them daily. Although the job may be demanding at times and the challenge is great, your role and future in the healthcare system is significant.

We applaud you for the extraordinary service and commitment you have made to your profession. We encourage you to continue building meaningful relationships and continue changing lives – one hire at a time! Enjoy your special day – you deserve it! Thank you for all you do!
