6 Ways to Beat Stress at Work

Everyone suffers with the feeling of stress from time to time, but if it’s interfering with your productivity, then it may be time to take a step back and try and work out its route cause. Work shouldn’t drive you crazy, even if your boss thinks otherwise. We’ve put together a list of our top tips on how to defeat stress and put the enjoyment back into work.

1) Sleeping

Getting the right amount of sleep can work wonders for your stress levels. It’s definitely easier said than done however, as most experts recommend 8 hours each night – which can be near impossible when you have a busy lifestyle. If you find it hard to get enough sleep, each night try and go to bed a little earlier than the previous one. Every little helps!

2) Cut back

It’s genuinely true what they say – a cluttered desk is a cluttered mind. Clearing out your desk will be both very satisfying and also beneficial to your stress levels.

3) Work life balance

Having an equal work life balance can work wonders for your stress levels. Turn off emails and work notifications on the weekends and evenings. Basically, leave work at work. Enjoy your time away from work as it will refresh you and boost your productivity when you are at work.

4) Talk about it

Whether it’s with your manager, a colleague or even family/friends, if you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed out it always makes a difference if you talk about it.

5) Exercise

Aim to exercise for at least half an hour, 3 times a week. Not only does it release endorphins to help you feel good, but it’s also great for helping your mind feel fresher.

6) Make sensible food choices

What you eat can really have an effect on stress and productivity levels. If you eat healthy food at regular intervals your mind is more likely to stay alert.
