As AI changes everything from how we drive to what we watch and even how we turn the lights on when we get home from a long day -- it’s also changing the way we work. Sales and marketing teams have been onto the secret of AI for years, augmenting their workflows with automation which allows them to scale their efforts to achieve loftier goals and produce a higher quality of work than ever before. Now, with the emergence of recruiting automation, the time has come for recruiters to experience this same revolution.

Automation is on the brink of changing the way companies hire for the better. Here are three reasons why automation is good for recruiters.

1. Get tedious tasks off the to-do list. The recruiting process is comprised of many moving parts including sourcing, outreach, scheduling, assessments, phone screens and the list goes on. A lot of these tasks are very manual and time consuming and can detract a recruiter’s attention away from elements of the hiring process that need more attention and a human touch. Things like personalized candidate experience and building relationships with candidates and hiring managers all require the attention and nuance that a human being provides. With the more manual pieces off of their plates, recruiters will be able to dedicate more time and energy to the pieces of the hiring process that require a human touch.

2. Build stronger relationships with candidates. Because recruiters will have more time on their hands with the more manual and tedious parts of the recruiting funnel taken care of, they can spend it doing the thing that drive them to recruiting in the first place: building strong relationships. The labor market today is in the candidate’s favor, with multiple companies clamoring to win over the hearts of difficult to come by, qualified candidates. When the competition is stiff, providing a world class candidate experience and building a strong relationship is more critical than ever. Things like status updates, personalized preparation before the interview, answering questions in a timely manner all pay off in talent dividends for your organization later on.

3. Optimize the hiring process using data. Most recruiting automation tools do more than help recruiters check things off of their to-do list. These tools also gather rich data that can be used to improve and optimize the way a company hires. From diagnosing problems in your interview process to doing more targeted and strategic outreach. Using data to inform hiring strategy is what will make recruiting teams invaluable partners to the business.

TV and movies often depict a world overrun by AI, leaving humans subordinate to their own creations. In reality, AI tools are not replacing recruiters. In fact, a company that relies solely on recruiting automation tools to bring top talent into the organization would never be successful. AI and humans must work together to produce results that each could never achieve on their own.
