Crafting the perfect email or LinkedIn message is one thing, getting a top candidate to reply is (sadly) quite another. It’s getting harder and harder to get through the the best talent, so timing your messages to perfection is essential if you’re interested in responses. Most candidates will read your messages within the first 60 minutes, (after 24 hours there is little to no chance your email will be opened).

All leaders depend on feedback from staff to help the company grow, but small business owners especially need this input. With all the hats they wear and different directions they get pulled, important matters may slip through the cracks if not specifically drawn to their attention. Thus, it becomes vital to create an environment where people feel free to bring things up – even issues or problems the boss may dislike.

Keeping up is not easy and it’s very time consuming.

Leaving the EU reminded me of break up where one party just didn’t want the other to leave. Firstly, there was disbelief (We’re leaving the EU!), then there was the anger (lets have another referendum!) then the bargaining (perhaps we’ll get an EU Lite) and now the reality is setting in (We’re leaving the EU and we are all doomed.). Or are we? I voted IN.

With kickoff just a few weeks away, I’ve been thinking about football. Specifically Draft Day.
