Michigan Passes New Social Media Privacy Law

Another state makes it illegal for employers – or potential employers – to request login information for social networks. Just before the end of the year, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed House Bill 5523, saying “potential employees and students should be judged on their skills and abilities, not private online activity.” Michigan is the fourth state by my count to make a law to protect employees from divulging their personal social network information.
