We had the privilege of having four panelists who each told a story demonstrating how the social web had empowered communities around social causes. Connie Chan from Yahoo! described how status updates and Flickr photos were used to spread awareness of Yahoo!

Job boards, job board advertising, HR outsourcing, job SEO, RPO and VMS are just some of the various business models now pursued by former staffing company owners that I've met here in the UK where the temp industry (Brits don't use the word 'staffing' like we do in the USA) has been under siege by everything from the weak economy to intrusive EU legislation.

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 18 — CountyHealthRankings.org , a new site produced by Forum One Communications, provides the first look at the overall health of every county in all 50 states. The site was unveiled at an event on Wednesday in Washington by its sponsors, the University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Another day of meeting people doing incredible things at the intersection of social media and recruitment. Three or four doing iphone type apps for searching jobs on twitter. The UK recruitment market is going through a lot of change, with some significant bankruptcies in the VMS space.

The 24 agencies required to comply with the Open Government Directive have begun soliciting citizen feedback on how to improve transparency, participation, collaboration, and innovation in government. Agencies are using IdeaScale to facilitate two-way feedback with citizens. To date, over 700 ideas have been submitted ! Unfortunately, the current implementation introduces slight privacy concerns for users.

[draft] This post recaps the merits of various Twitter-based job board services that joined in our discussion yesterday, but the real news that came out of the Staffing Talk Show was the Google monopoly is in its waning days. Google is old, like newspapers. You can’t excite anyone with a discussion about SEO anymore. Twitter is the David that has knocked out Goliath Google.
