What to do When Your Recruitment Software is No Longer Efficient

Sometimes, the recruitment system you’ve always used doesn’t necessarily meet the future needs of your recruitment agency.  If you are not happy with your current recruitment software, it’s time for you to take action.

Determine why.

If you are not happy with your current recruiting software, the first step is to determine why you are unhappy.  Perhaps you feel that there are not enough search functions or enough space to upload documents.  Whatever the reasons, write them down.

Contact your vendor.

Once you have determined why you are unhappy, you should contact the vendor of your recruitment system.  If you share your challenges with your vendor, he may be able to offer solutions to those challenges.

When you are able to solve these problems with your current software, it will likely save on cost and training.

Research other systems.

If your vendor is unable to offer satisfactory solutions to your challenges, it is important for you to begin researching other recruitment systems.

Ask other recruiters what systems they have experience with and their successes or challenges with those systems.  If you are a member of any recruiting groups on social media, post questions in those groups asking for input on different recruitment technology.  This is a great way to get honest reviews on systems from the people who have first hand experience with the software.

Research online different systems by comparing functions, accessibility, and cost.

Have other vendors provide demos.

Once you have completed your research, select several vendors that you are interested in.  Set up times for them to come to your office and provide demos on the software.

Make sure that each vendor clearly understands the challenges you have been experiencing with your existing system.  This will enable each vendor to address those challenges during their demo, allowing you to see how you will benefit from utilizing their software.

Get your team’s input.

As always, during your research and investigation, you will need to include key members of your team throughout the process.

Make sure that you have a representative from each of your departments if you want to be sure and obtain input and buy in from your entire team.  Having team members who utilize the system on a daily basis is important if you want to be sure to resolve any and all challenges with the system.

When you are considering a new system or any changes in your existing system, you need to ensure that it will not cause any new challenges or problems with the way your team is utilizing the software.

What have you done in the past when you were not satisfied with your recruitment software?
