Championing Talent Acquisition Professionals

Talent acquisition professionals want their solution provider to help them navigate and benefit from the rapid technology innovations, and to strongly support them in their transition to the new technology or tool.

I deeply admire talent acquisition professionals and their tenacity at helping their organizations find, attract, and hire quality talent that is aligned with their organization’s values, culture, and mission. It is not an easy job to do. Talent acquisition professionals overcome all sorts of obstacles to achieve their goals.  Many organizations are competing for a very limited qualified talent pool. Other times they are being bombarded by numerous resumes from a mix of qualified and unqualified talent and it is difficult to figure out which candidate would be the best fit for their organizations. shutterstock_238457194

Talent acquisition technology can help with this talent acquisition process.  Based on Brandon Hall Group’s 2016 Talent Acquisition Technology survey, the great majority of organizations consider a wide range of functionalities to be essential or critical to their business. From a sourcing or recruiting standpoint, the functionalities considered most essential are: online applications (94%), applicant tracking (93%), job posting distribution (87%), analytics/dashboards (76%), and candidate search/recommendations (74%).

Of course, there are additional functionalities in talent acquisition that are considered important in the areas of evaluating (interviewing) and onboarding. There are just too many to list here.  Talent acquisition professionals have a myriad of responsibilities and recent technology innovations to consider, such as social recruiting and video interviewing.

The conundrum is that while many of these functionalities are considered important or even critical, organizations seem to be only moderately satisfied with them.

What do talent acquisition professionals want? I believe – and our research supports — that talent acquisition professionals want their provider to help them navigate and benefit from the rapid technology innovations, to provide an intuitive, easy to use, and effective solution, and to strongly support them in their transition to the new technology or tool.
