“AI’s capability is so great,” writes HR expert Dr. John Sullivan in a recent blog post, “that TA leaders that can’t drive the transition will be replaced.”

So, what’s a talent leader to do? John recommends getting onboard the AI train quickly, while laying out some guidelines to help those at the reins of recruiting teams get started. His suggestions include:

  • Embrace all things data and find a recruiting metric that really works: “Recruiting leaders,” he writes, “must finally decide on a precise, narrow definition of recruiting success.”
  • Get prepared for a budget battle: “Because all executives will expect recruiting — and every other business function — to make a rapid transition to AI,” he reminds his readers, “there will be intense competition for AI resources.”
  • Expect resistance: Recruiters, like all of us, can be skeptical of change. “Begin to identify any potential resistance,” he writes, “by surveying executives, hiring managers, and recruiters in order to identify the potential resistance areas from each group, as well as which individual counterarguments will be effective against them.”
