The 10 Must-Read Articles for Recruiters This Week

Top stories of the week

No one wants to design a plane while they’re flying it. Likewise, most recruiters don’t want to overhaul their hiring process while endless open reqs scream for their attention.

But now, with the economy cooling and many companies tapping the brakes on hiring (if not stopping it altogether or even laying people off), is the ideal time to burnish or overhaul every part of your talent acquisition operation, argues a report from First Round Review.

“Whether your hiring is slowing down or keeping pace,” First Round says, “there’s a real opportunity to get intentional in refining your entire hiring process, from job description to offer — approaching each step with the same careful planning you give your GTM efforts and product road map.” The piece is aimed at startups but most of its points are highly relevant to organizations of any size or age.

You can read First Round’s specific suggestions in the article that tops the list below of must-read articles for talent professionals. Elsewhere in the list, learn about the disturbing rise of imposter employees (and, yes, it’s every bit as weird as it sounds); why a culture of busyness could upend the move to a four-day workweek; and the interview questions most often Googled this year (“Tell me about those questions...”).
