As the World Turns was a very popular soap opera I watched in the 1980s. It was always so full of drama and excitement that I couldn't stop tuning in. These days, I find myself constantly saying to clients, “As the world turns …” to indicate the amount of unnecessary personal drama I find within organizations. I realize that as years go by, the world is turning rapidly and everything is changing at a hasty pace. Technology has reshaped our culture and changed how we are able to perceive the world around us, and organizations everywhere must learn to adapt to the changing climate in order to hire and retain the best team.

What makes a great workplace culture isn’t your typical ABC approach. It’s a customizable process that takes into consideration all the people in an organization. While every company defines culture in their own way, most can agree that company culture refers to the shared values, practices and beliefs an organization stands for. It’s the personality of your business.

These trending benefits will be key to fostering a healthy organizational culture while supplying tools that will develop your workforce.

Transform Your Organization With Coaching

Executive and leadership coaching is becoming a top choice as more and more companies come to realize it is one of the most beneficial contributors to the bottom line. It is the investment that keeps on giving.

Coaching can help with:

1. Empowering your leaders and enhancing their leadership skills by teaching them how to be effective in directing your team.

2. Managing change. A corporate life coach’s job is to ensure your employees view change as an opportunity, rather than a threat.

3. Developing corporate culture. Every organization has a personality and vision. This also translates to your brand and the people within your organization. A corporate life coach develops a plan for breeding a desired culture that complements your company’s vision.

Introduce Healthier Lifestyle Perks

My new favorite quote is: “You perform as good as you feel.” I’m constantly finding more and more people are concerned about their health and looking to make positive changes in this area. Being that most people spend a good chunk of their time at work, organizations should be a part of their employees' journey to healthier lives. It’s one thing to maintain a great eating habit in the comfort of your home, but at work it can be nearly impossible. You are generally crunched for time and eating healthy tends to get put on the back burner.

One way a company could make moves towards supporting their employees' efforts to maintain a healthier lifestyle is to take action in the areas that will help them. Set aside some extra money for your team’s personal health goals — it will help build loyalty and show that you care and are in it for the long haul. Some impactful perks that your organization can offer in order to help move the needle include:

• Delivering healthy snacks and drinks to company break rooms. Because employees often don’t have time to run home or go to a different place to grab healthy food for lunch or snacks, it would be a huge convenience if they had the healthy food at their fingertips. Eating healthier snacks during the workday can also help employees keep their energy up and stay motivated.

• Offering discounted or free gym memberships. Working out regularly can also help with increased energy and motivation. Focusing on work can be difficult with the fatigue that can sometimes arise from not being active enough, so regular exercise is a good way to beat afternoon lethargy at the office.

• Providing wellness tools and equipment to help make a monotonous job easier. Some examples would include standing desks, exercise balls to sit on and back rollers to get out the cracks from sitting over a computer screen all day.

The effort you make to support your team and provide them with one or all these benefits will mean a lot to them and show you care about their well-being. Not only that, but this commitment also helps foster a healthier and happier workplace culture, strengthening loyalties and further enabling you to reel in and keep top-notch employees that will put in good work for you and your organization. Take care of your team, and they will take care of you.
