Amidst the labyrinth of national security, a rare pathway exists for those seeking the privilege of working from the comfort of their own home. The path less traveled involves gaining the title of recruiter or a talent acquisition professional. While such a route may not always guarantee sponsorship for security clearance, there are select agencies and contractors that offer such opportunities.

How to Obtain Access to Classified Information

A security clearance is an authorized access to classified information, and it’s not something you can get on your own. The first step in securing a clearance is to find a job that demands one, either with the federal government or a government contractor. Once you’re offered the job, your employer will guide you through the security clearance process. Simply put, to obtain a clearance, you need to land a job that requires one, then complete the necessary steps with your employer’s assistance.

The process is generally the same for a recruiter looking to gain clearance – find an employer willing to sponsor. The leverage an applicant has in their back pocket while they undergo the background investigation process is that they can support the company until their clearance is adjudicated by helping to staff other programs.
