Companies have been trying to get skills-based hiring right for years. Theyve removed degree requirements. Theyve looked beyond pedigree experience. Theyve tried to quantify and measure skills. Yet the needle has barely budged. A 2024 report by The Burning Glass Institute found that even though many companies have removed degree requirements, this has resulted in a 0.14% increase in hiring of candidates without degrees.
