Have you ever heard of crowdsource recruiting? Crowdsourcing in the traditional sense is gaining funds from the community, but talent crowdsourcing is leveraging a community of recruiters, maybe staffing agencies, or other industry professionals as a part of your talent acquisition process.

This type of cleared recruiting marketplace works is similar to a job board through posting a position with a large variety of recruiters that are able to hit the ground running on your opening in an attempt to submit candidates to your organization.

There are a few pros and cons to this practice which will help you answer the question if it is for your recruiting team, opening, and company.

Quick & Efficient Staffing

The more recruiters working on your position the better? Quantity does not always mean quality candidates, but at least if you are a smaller company with fewer resources, you will have more candidates to choose from to submit to your customer…and in a timely fashion.

Cheaper Than A Staffing Agency

With crowdsource recruiting, you can essentially name your price. The fact that print media is not the only option to advertise for roles is also great for crowdsourcing. Essentially posting on social media or recruiting groups is free for your open roles, and you can have potential recruiters bid their lowest price.

Recruiters Missing the Company Culture

Effective talent acquisition strategy is all about relationships and the most excellent recruiters are those skilled at building maintaining relationships, not only with their clients (if they are headhunters) but also with their cleared candidates. The top recruiters understand government / company requirements, the culture, or the personality type that will fit the team the opening is on. Crowdsourcing doesn’t allow independent recruiters to ask these questions.

Your Company’s Reputation in the Cleared Marketplace

With crowdsource recruiting, your company or recruiting team risks being misrepresented, or candidates receiving millions of calls from different recruiters about the same opening (especially if it’s a hard to fill role with a talent shortage). People being reached out to by multiple recruiters makes an employer seem desperate or unorganized in the marketplace.

As with anything, you have to weigh the pros with the cons to see what’s right for your own organization.
