Teach Your Recruiters To Be Better Communicators

Boarding the plane, I could feel my heart pounding the second I sat down. I was on my way to my very first job post writing training. I was going to teach recruiters to be better communicators. I was en route to Cincinnati, Ohio to teach a state funded economic development program how to write job postings. It was the perfect group. But I wasn’t giving myself a pep talk in this moment.

I’ll admit it. I was panicked. I burned myself ironing my shirt. I was sweating so badly when I walked in. I still remember the big glass walls and the huge staircase. I was taking the stairs slowly. God forbid someone looked out and saw me fall. I didn’t want to pass out, either.

The second I walked in, I think some part of me knew it would be ok. I ended up laughing more than I expected. We argued over who was the “shit leader” – and if you’ve been through my training, you know the joke. (We are all one f away from making our shift leader into a shit leader.)

The Human Side of Learning and Development

I also remember watching this team learn more than I expected. Watching them collaborate in real time. Knowing somewhere in my mind that they got it.

Even more so, I felt this knowing. I knew I was doing something I was put on this planet to do.

That was the first of hundreds of trainings I’ve done for Three Ears Media. Speaking and training during writing workshops is by far the work I love more than anything, and it’s where I can feel myself shine.

I think what makes it different is that I get to do this thing my way. The human way. The practical way, without anyone to tell me I’m wrong. I mean, at this point – we can go to war. I have data galore to prove my point.

The different outcome is there, too. I don’t make shit up. I try, test, and prove before I add it to training.

2022 Recruiting Training: Let’s Teach Recruiters to be Better Communicators

As you look for training options for your teams or speakers for your event in 2022, I hope you’d consider calling me. I think I can help.

See, every team needs to know how to write. How to communicate. Hiring is always hard, but the reason it’s hard is because there are a million variables we do not control. The 1 variable every recruiter can control? How we speak to people. How we ask them to change their lives and take a new job for us.

That’s what I can teach your team and event attendees how to do.

I’m still offering 1 and 3 hour how to write a job post workshops, of course, but I’ve created a few new trainings I think can help, too.

  • On-Demand Options for those of you looking to spend what’s left of that 2021 budget. Buy that here.
  • 1 Hour Hiring Manager Job Post Training to get your managers up to speed on what it takes to write a great job post,
  • 1.5 Hour Skill Workshop where we teach you how to delete bias and write skill requirement bullets for any job posting and,
  • 1.5 Hour Email and Job Pitch Workshop where you’ll learn how to use job post content to write better outreach emails for 1-1 and automated candidate messaging.
