It lays out some ambitious steps for executive departments and agencies to take over the relatively near-term to be more transparent, participatory, and accountable, such as: Within 45 days, each agency shall identify and publish online in an open format at least three high-value data sets and register those data sets via Data.gov.

Rebuttal to My Competitor’s Post on Healthcare

Staffing Talk

My competitor Jason Lander keeps a great blog on staffing and VMS, but his recent post on healthcare in Canada didn’t sit right with me, particularly comments to the effect that private market forces (like profit-seeking businesses) detrimentally impact healthcare delivery in the USA. My friend Pete Arnold (husband of Alisha Arnold, Director of Training at Tempworks) felt the same and chimed in with a rebuttal: I have worked with government run healthcare before.

One Safe Prediction for 2010: The Death of Vendor Press Releases

Staffing Talk

You can always ride on one safe prediction: forecasting something that already happened. That’s the case with vendor press releases. You know what those are, right? Those nauseatingly formulaic proclamations by vendors: “The First and Only Global Leader with Revolutionary, Market Transforming” blah blah blah. Actually they used to work. At Tempworks we were always careful not to use the superlative language so common especially among technology vendors, but we did use them.

The Race Is On for Enterprise Social Media Integration

Staffing Talk

The race is on. The social media revolution has happened and no stone is being left unturned. Not for Pepsi. Not for Tiger. And not for enterprise software companies either. Everyone of us is aiming to emerge as the Talleyrand of the new regime – the first to ally itself with the Napoleonic likes of Twitter and Facebook. I recently watched a segment of the Gillmore Gang , a TechCrunch hosted jousting between various internet illuminati like Jason Calacanis, Kevin Marks and the ever present Rober

Temp Worker Stories and Newspapers: Here Comes Another “Man-Nigger”

But the readers chimed in to wake us from our slumber.
