Alexandra’s industry expertise has been critical in ensuring a positive client experience through account delivery.

A Romanian native

I was born in Romania, but my family and I moved to Rochester, New York when I was two. I attended Canisius College in downtown Buffalo, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

Journey to Broadleaf

After graduation, I accepted a job as a recruiter at a Buffalo-based staffing and recruiting company. In 2020, I was referred to Broadleaf by a colleague. I was immediately interested in joining the company because of its corporate culture and focus on providing employees with work-life balance. Additionally, having experience in the talent acquisition industry, I was excited to use my knowledge and skills in a new environment while working with a broader clientele.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, I am essentially the primary line of communication between our MSP clients and candidates. My daily responsibility includes responding to hiring manager and supplier inquiries, managing the candidate release and requisition process in VNDLY—a vendor management system (VMS)—facilitating sourcing, pre-screening, and candidate pipelining, onboarding contingent workers, maintaining system data integrity, and facilitating reporting and research support. Since joining Broadleaf, my role has transformed from being responsible for compliance and hiring for one client to now working with three MSP clients.

Because so much of my role is client-facing, keeping Broadleaf’s suppliers and clients satisfied when issues arise is undoubtedly challenging. However, my team is incredibly supportive. Our manager helps us maintain a positive attitude despite challenges, and the team resolves issues by working together to identify solutions. Broadleaf wants its employees to grow in their careers and skill sets and offers many learning and development opportunities while fostering a nurturing and encouraging environment I did not find in my previous roles.

Looking ahead in a dynamic industry

The workforce solutions industry has evolved tremendously, especially with the drastic economic changes catalyzed by the pandemic. Since then, the industry has found securing quality candidates and new clients more challenging. This has caused organizations to modify business practices to adapt to the changing industry and maintain the high level of service and professionalism Broadleaf prides itself on. The company’s ability to adapt and navigate these challenges is a testament to our strong leadership team and why the organization has remained an industry leader.

Life out of the office

Working a demanding full-time job can be stressful at times, but I am thankful that Broadleaf values and urges its employees to strive for work-life balance. To accomplish this, I ensure that I complete all necessary tasks during the workday, so I can relax and fully be present when I am home and spend a lot of time with my family and friends. I am passionate about maintaining an active lifestyle, working out every morning, spending time outdoors while tending to my garden, and reading.

I would love to travel throughout Europe someday, especially Spain. Spain isn’t far from Romania, so I could take a train to visit family members who still reside there. Additionally, I speak three languages, so I would be able to put that knowledge to good use!
