HOW TO DRESS PROFESSIONALLY IN THE SUMMER HEAT

You’ve barely walked to the subway and already you feel drenched in sweat.  I bet you’re wondering how you are going to make it through the work day.  I bet you’re also wondering what you could wear that might make you more comfortable (that is also work appropriate).  Well we’re here to help with some head-to-toe tips:

Office Outfits for Women:  Lighter neutrals (white, tan, taupe, light gray) are key to building your summer wardrobe.  If you work in a suit-only office, try a sleeveless blouse—you can wear this jacket free, and just slip on the jacket when you need a more polished look.  To cope with the cold, air-conditioned office, find a lightweight cardigan (you could even try ¾ sleeve for a modern twist).  Dresses are a great summer alternative to the suit.  Look for lightweight and wrinkle-resistant fabrics like cotton or silk-linen blends.

Office Outfits for Men:  If you’re a man in a suit-only workplace, look for a light wool or cotton suit.  If you want to add some summer fun, slip on a silk tie.  On a summer Friday, you could wear a seersucker blazer with khaki pants and a cotton button down (this is always a go-to look if you work in a more casual office).

Besides your resume and your LinkedIn, your personal appearance is the most important part of your professional brand.  So make sure you own that summer heat and stay well-kempt and classy.
