Kortney Harmon [00:00:41]:
So buckle up.

Kortney Harmon [00:00:42]:
We’re about to talk about six harsh truths that are sabotaging your productivity at your desk.

Kortney Harmon [00:00:48]:
Reason number one, you’re living in a.

Kortney Harmon [00:00:51]:
Fantasy land of unlimited time. Let’s get real, folks. We all know that there are only 24 hours in a day, but for some reason, you’re acting like you’re a superhero who can conquer the week in.

Kortney Harmon [00:01:03]:
20 hours wake up call.

Kortney Harmon [00:01:06]:
You’re not factoring all the time suck like endless meetings, dealing with the avalanche of emails and mindlessly scrolling LinkedIn to.

Kortney Harmon [00:01:16]:
Search for the next candidate when you should be hustling to fill those roles. Number two, your scheduling game could be weaker than a wet paper bag.

Kortney Harmon [00:01:29]:
Raise your hand if you’re still using a tattered notebook from last century to keep track of your interviews and client calls.

Kortney Harmon [00:01:36]:
If your hand is up, you’re officially a scheduling disaster.

Kortney Harmon [00:01:42]:
Now, you could be doubling booking candidates left and right, leaving them high and dry, maybe not following up with your clients.

Kortney Harmon [00:01:50]:
And you may be the sole reason.

Kortney Harmon [00:01:52]:
That people don’t want to work with recruiters in the first place.

Kortney Harmon [00:01:56]:
We need to up our scheduling game.

Kortney Harmon [00:01:59]:
Number three, you’re stuck in the stone.

Kortney Harmon [00:02:01]:
Age of manual processes.

Kortney Harmon [00:02:04]:
Now, in this era of cutting edge technology, there’s absolutely no excuse for not automating your scheduling process. You’d rather spend hours going back and forth with candidates over emails like it’s.

Kortney Harmon [00:02:17]:
A courtship ritual, maybe from the 80s. Newsflash, your online scheduling tools that are.

Kortney Harmon [00:02:25]:
Even built into your ATS can handle that for you.

Kortney Harmon [00:02:29]:
With the creation of a task, it’s.

Kortney Harmon [00:02:32]:
Efficient, professional, and way less likely to give you carpal tunnel for your typing out your novel length emails. Number four, you’re drowning in disorganized candidate data.

Kortney Harmon [00:02:48]:
Let’s face it, your candidate database could be a mess.

Kortney Harmon [00:02:52]:
It got resumes scattered across multiple folders, disjointed notes, not putting stuff in the system to begin with, or maybe even no real system at all for tracking where each candidate is in the process.

Kortney Harmon [00:03:05]:
Maybe your workflows are broken honestly, it’s a recipe for disaster that’s costing you.

Kortney Harmon [00:03:11]:
Precious time and causing you to drop.

Kortney Harmon [00:03:14]:
The ball with top talent.

Kortney Harmon [00:03:16]:
Get your act together and invest in a robust ATS, possibly like ours that can keep everything organized at the tip of your fingers. Maybe reason number five maybe you’re a multitasking maniac.

Kortney Harmon [00:03:32]:
I hate to break it to you, but multitasking is a myth.

Kortney Harmon [00:03:37]:
Your brain can’t effectively juggle multiple, complex tasks at once, and all that context switching back and forth really kills your productivity. Instead of bouncing between sourcing, screening, scheduling like a pinball, learn to batch your tasks. Give each one of your full focus. You’d be amazed how much more you can accomplish when you’re not consistently derailing your own train of thought.

Kortney Harmon [00:04:02]:
Have a sourcing block.

Kortney Harmon [00:04:04]:
Have a call block.

Kortney Harmon [00:04:06]:
Have a reference check block. This will help with your productivity. Reason number six and my favorite, is.

Kortney Harmon [00:04:15]:
You’Re winging it without a plan. If you’re walking into each day without a solid plan, you’re already behind the eight ball. Lack of planning is a surefire way to wind up to prioritize the urgent over the important. You’ll spend your days putting out fires. Reacting instead of proactively driving your desk forward goes for recruiting and for sales. Successful recruiters, business development leaders, operational professionals, and executives take the time to map out their days, weeks, and months, identifying priorities, blocking off focus times to ensure the right activities get the attention they need and deserve.

Kortney Harmon [00:05:00]:
Fail to plan and you’re just planning to fail.

Kortney Harmon [00:05:03]:
In closing, if you want to stop screwing up your game and finally earn the right to call yourself a rock star recruiter, it’s time to get really serious. Work backwards from reality. Schedule like a pro, automate the things that don’t require a human touch or get you to a human touch faster. Get your candidates data organized, and learn to focus on one task at a time. That’s how you’ll finally conquer your own full desk experience and leave your competitors in the dust. Thanks so much for listening to another episode of FDE Express. Join us next time.
