All In At Acara: Rebecca Furrer

All-In At Acara: Rebecca Furrer

In this month’s edition of “All-In At Acara,” meet Senior Onboarding Specialist, Rebecca Furrer. Rebecca has been with the team for 8 years and works out of Acara’s office in Dallas. Learn more about Rebecca below!

Life Before Acara

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and now live in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Before Acara, I worked for Southwest Airlines as a Maintenance Training Technician. Once I started a family, I became a stay-at-home mom. Once my children were in middle school, I I went to work part-time during school hours at a women’s clothing store that took a highly personal approach to customer service.

After 5 years of being a top seller, I found myself in need of a full-time position. I had seen a lead for a job opening on Facebook and submitted my resume. I had no expectation of getting the job but thought I’d go and practice interviewing. To my surprise, I was hired based on my customer service experience and began my career with Acara, where I still am 8 years later!

Life At Acara

As a Senior Onboarding Specialist, my role includes coordinating background and drug screenings, completing I-9 forms and compliance documents, addressing payroll inquiries, and coordinating travel and customer and client care, among other things. I am the primary Onboarding Specialist for several key accounts and am the frontline point of contact for each. I process both payrolled and recruited hires. There’s a lot to get done, and one of the most challenging parts of the job is prioritizing. Many times, everything is needed all at once.

Everyone on the team works together and supports each other, and our leadership brings a family vibe to the company.

During my time with Acara, the biggest change in the industry has been all the new technologies. When I first began in 2015, we were onboarding with all paper—sending out paper packets via FedEx with a return envelope. Now, we can do I-9 appointments via video call, which is one of my favorite parts of the job. I love getting facetime with the people I’m connecting to a new opportunity.

Why Acara?

What our team does positively impacts the lives of others. We connect people with employment, and that makes a difference. I’m very empathetic and that makes it easy for me to connect with the candidates I’m onboarding.

I enjoy working for a company where the leaders care about us. They have worked to provide great benefits for us to enroll in. They also offer a hybrid schedule that I love. It’s great to work from home and in an office, too.

The Dallas branch is small but beautiful! Even though we may not be working on the same task, I love to collaborate with my colleagues and just be around them.

Life Outside of Acara

Outside of work, I volunteer for our city’s Fire Department by driving a support truck that follows firefighters to calls that will keep them a long time. We provide additional water, Gatorade, and protein snacks to help them while on the long call. I’m currently in the Citizens Police Academy to be certified as a volunteer for that department of our city.

I have traveled extensively to the west side of the Canadian Rockies—my favorite place on the planet! My next dream has me exploring the east side, all the way up to Edmonton.  I would have to add a week at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island sipping Mint Juleps on the veranda!

I am a country girl at heart and would love to live on a farm or animal sanctuary and care for a variety of animals all day long.
