In this month’s “All-In At Acara” Employee Spotlight, meet Shaniel Wisniewski!

When Shaniel joined the team at Acara, she already had over a decade of experience in talent acquisition. Today, as Eastern Regional Recruitment Manager, she leads a team of ten recruiting specialists focused on meeting our clients’ hiring needs.

Shaniel’s ability to problem solve, think strategically, cultivate relationships, and align her team’s goals with the company’s overall objective have been critical in delivering top talent for a wide range of clients.

Journey to Recruiting

I grew up in the small town of Wilson, New York and currently live in Niagara Falls, New York. I went to school at Penn State University and graduated with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies.

After graduation, not entirely sure of the career path I wanted to go down, I accepted a job offer with a travel nurse recruitment agency. I quickly realized that I loved the recruiting industry, connecting with others, and helping people find rewarding jobs!

From there, I held a few different recruiting roles on both the agency and corporate sides, eventually finding myself in leadership roles. I was very interested when I saw the position for the Recruitment Manager role at Acara come up and after speaking with the team, I knew this position would be a great fit for me.

Life At Acara

At Acara, I manage a team of ten recruiting specialists. My main focus is ensuring we are meeting the hiring needs of our clients. Day-to-day, this consists of partnering closely with our Account Executives and clients to tailor our recruitment strategies, staying up to date on recruiting trends and best practices, and training and developing our team.

Before joining Acara, I had spent over a decade in the recruiting world in a diverse range of industries and positions. I had managed client relationships and worked effectively to meet their goals. All these experiences prepared me for my current role with Acara.

Why Recruiting?

Being in the recruiting field, you know you are making a positive impact. It is a great feeling to help candidates find the perfect-match position and knowing that person will be able to contribute to the company’s overall growth and success.

Resilience is an important part of the job. There are a lot of hiccups that can come up in the recruitment process that are sometimes out of our control, but we do a great job at celebrating our successes, no matter how big or small, and keeping up our morale!

Where is the Industry Headed Next?

Right now, candidates are in high demand and looking for positions that offer the full package. Compensation isn’t everything—they also want remote work, great benefits, and a work/life balance. Acara does a great job at informing our clients of industry trends, so they understand the current hiring landscape and what is important to potential future hires.

I am intrigued by how technological advancements will change the industry over the next 10 years. I hope to see AI streamline and make the recruiting process more effective, help us source the right candidates faster, and improve communication, feedback, and the overall candidate experience. I have a feeling this will be a major change coming to the industry sooner rather than later.

Outside of Acara

I am currently pregnant with my first child! We are busy at home preparing for his arrival. My partner and I can’t wait to take him for hikes around western New York, which is our favorite thing to do on weekends.

For me, an ideal day off work would include a slow morning making breakfast at home, a long hike and spending time outdoors, a nice dinner at a local restaurant, finished off with a movie at home.

I’d also love to travel with my family to Poland to connect with our roots and ancestry.
