How to Leverage New Tools from Glassdoor Webinar

It’s an exciting time for us here at Glassdoor! We've seen a number of significant
product innovations in a short space of time. As a result, Glassdoor now provides businesses with more and better tools to help them attract, recruit and retain top talent.

Recently, we hosted a webinar to familiarize customers with the latest developments in our product line. Kirsten Davidson, Glassdoor’s Head of Employer Brand, joined Product Marketing Managers, Mike Walsh and Kira Federer, and special guest, Ann Poletti, Senior Director of Employment Brand Marketing at DocuSign, to demo our new tools and answer any questions from the audience.

Along with product enhancements such as Job Spotlight, Company Spotlight and Industry Benchmarking Reports, we also introduced two indispensable new tools:

Know Your Worth

Know Your Worth™ from Glassdoor helps people determine not only if they are being paid fairly, but also whether they should attempt to negotiate their current salary and/or explore better paying jobs. Each person’s market value, and pay range, is unique to them and private, and will be recalculated weekly and tracked over time.

Audience Targeting

One size does not fit all when it comes to employer branding. Glassdoor’s Audience Targeting now allows you to deliver a personalized view of your Enhanced Profile to four different audiences based on their occupation, e.g., HR, sales, engineering, etc. Your photos, videos and branded content will change dynamically based on the jobseeker researching your company.

After sharing their tips and tricks for using these new tools, our hosts opened the floor to questions and we were thrilled at the audience’s response. Here is a recap of the top questions we received as well as a few we didn’t have time to cover during the webinar:

Where is Know Your Worth™ available?

Know Your Worth™ uses sophisticated data science and machine-learning algorithms that leverage millions of salary reports shared by employees on Glassdoor, while analyzing real-time supply-and-demand trends in local job markets and typical career transitions of people doing similar work. Due to this data-intensive design, Know Your Worth™ is currently only available in the U.S. Rest assured, though, that our Product Team is exploring ways of expanding the tool’s functionality with the goal of eventually making it available worldwide.

Do the four Audience Targeting profiles include the default? And is there also a "general" page?

When you sign up for Audience Targeting on your Glassdoor Enhanced Profile, you can add up to four different, targeted profiles, in addition to your default profile. This means that you can have up to four custom profiles targeting specific job titles (e.g. sales, engineering, etc.) and one default profile that will be seen by any audiences you have not pre-defined. This gives you up to five different ways of presenting your content to job seekers.

Can you customize Audience Targeting profiles based on geography?

Currently, Audience Targeting is designed to show a different view of your company to job seekers based on their job title. We are very aware, though, that our customers are interested in customizing their content based on geography. Our Product Team is considering ways of implementing this functionality and we hope to soon be able to offer companies the ability to create targeted profiles based on a job seeker’s location, as well as their job title.

Can you give advice for capturing our company’s EVP in different departments?

Your EVP, or Employer Value Proposition, is what differentiates your company from the competition and why your employees would want to work for you. Within your organization, though, different departments may have their own version of an EVP. DocuSign’s Ann Poletti shared that the answer for her was to talk to her people. Ask them what they value most about the company and why they see it as a place they can grow and develop.

Your EVP can also be influenced by exploring the analytics section of your Glassdoor profile. You can filter your reviews based on job title and/or location to get a feel for what is working and what needs more attention.

Your individual departments will have slightly different EVPs—something that may appeal to an engineer may not resonate with a salesperson, for example—but if your company’s overall EVP is strong and authentic, then your departments will generally be in alignment. If you have engaged with your teams in an open and transparent way, then your values should shine through to every corner of your organization.
