All-In at Acara: How Charity Ramos’ Part-Time Position at Acara Turned Into a Career

While applying to nursing school programs, Charity Ramos took a part-time position with Acara as a temporary recruiter. Little did she know, this position would change her career path entirely as she’s a Recruitment Manager today. Her ability to motivate her team and her passion for helping others find their dream job leave no question as to why Charity is an asset to Acara.

A career path change

I was born and raised in the Philippines. When I was 16 years old, I migrated to the United States and attended Sacramento City College. There, while pursuing a degree in nursing, I decided to take up a part-time job as a temporary recruiter with Acara. I fell in love with the position and decided to forgo my spot in the nursing program to direct my attention and focus on recruiting and helping my clients find employment. I enrolled in business school, prepared to entirely turn my career path upside down.

Joining Acara

In 2006, I heard about Acara through a friend who encouraged me to apply, and I was hired as a Staffing Coordinator. I worked in the customer service industry before but working for Acara has been much more fulfilling than my previous experience. The company supports internal growth and since getting hired, I have held multiple positions, including Payroll Administrator and Recruitment Specialist. After that, I became a Senior Recruitment Specialist and eventually filled a Recruitment Manager role.

A day in the life

On a day-to-day basis, as a Recruitment Manager, I oversee a team of four recruiters. I’m responsible for production numbers, leading meetings and events and coordinating those operations, and working alongside hiring managers to ensure all open requisitions are filled promptly. It can be challenging to juggle recruitment and managing staff and escalations all while trying to please our clients who remain at the top of our priority list. However, as the workload and hiring demand increase, Acara constantly scales its operations and employees to stay ahead of the competition.

A love for Acara

What is unique about working for Acara is the mutual love that the employees, the company, and the staffing industry share. I am passionate about helping people achieve their ideal lifestyles by placing them in positions that bring them one step closer to their dream. I will never forget an email I received a few years ago from a former client. He wrote me offering his gratitude for helping him find a job. He shared with me that he was most excited about not having to go to a local food bank anymore for his family’s Thanksgiving meal. Additionally, I have always enjoyed working with people. I work hard to keep my team motivated and our clients happy. Just as any job entails, there are challenging moments, but knowing that I am making a positive difference in people’s lives makes those less pleasant moments seem insignificant.

Life outside of work

When I am not working, I love spending quality time with my family. I make a conscious effort to give my 12-year-old son, Ethan, my undivided attention. We spend every morning together as he gets ready to go to school. I love the beach and tropical weather and hope my passion for travel will one day bring me to the Maldives.
