The 5 Most Responsive Employers & CEOs on Glassdoor

Today, the Wall Street Journal published a story taking a look at employers and CEOs who respond to employee reviews online, including Glassdoor in their story as a leading site that offers employee reviews and ratings. To us, it was not a surprise that the Wall Street Journal focused on Glassdoor since we are now the #2 job site and fastest-growing in the U.S., featuring approximately 32 million reviews and workplace insights, shared by employees, on employers around the world.

As one of the most effective channels for job advertisement and recruiting, according to third party research , we at Glassdoor also know that the value of responding to reviews can give employers a competitive edge when it comes to recruiting informed candidates . For instance, 65% of Glassdoor users agree their perception of a company improves after seeing an employer respond to a review, and 74% of Glassdoor users are more likely to apply to a job if the employer actively manages its employer brand (e.g. responds to reviews, updates their profile, shares updates on the culture and work environment)(1) .

Simply put, with an average of 45 million monthly unique users(2), employers who respond to reviews can easily influence potential talent even more - and, for free, since any employer can respond to reviews by getting a Free Employer Account . To date, about 110,000 employers have claimed theirs(3).

As part of the Wall Street Journal story, Glassdoor was also asked for data on the employers and CEOs who do this - respond to company reviews submitted by their own employees - the most. Led by our data science team, we crunched the numbers to look over the past three years among large employers (those with 1,000 employees or more). Here’s what we found with respective methodology:

Researchers and analysts have found on several occasions that today’s job seekers are more informed than ever before, and looking for employers that listen to and are actively engaged with both job candidates and employees. This includes a commitment to workplace transparency, which is often found on third-party sites like Glassdoor, and validated through reviews shared by employees, and responses by employers.

"Glassdoor has introduced a different model to employment and recruiting where candidates are able to get the bigger picture of what it's actually like to interview with and work at a company. By going where informed candidates are, employers are not just saving money — they are utilizing the right channels and increasing effectiveness," notes Kyle Lagunas , research manager for IDC's Emerging Trends in Talent Acquisition and Staffing research practice.
