What Makes FinancialForce a Best Place to Work?

The best part about coming to work at FinancialForce.com every day is the people.

Company perks

Sure, we have great snacks, Philz coffee, fun company-wide events like our offsite in Tiburon, frequent happy hours and an epic holiday party, time off for volunteering, an amazing view of San Francisco at our headquarters, a perfect location in downtown Chicago and our UK office is in Harrogate; which has been named the happiest place to live in the UK for the third year running. But it’s the passion and creativity that our employees bring to work every day that makes us one of Glassdoor’s 2016 Best Places to Work.

A look back at 2015

2015 has been quite a year for us - we started the year with 450 employees, and now we’re nearly at 700. For many high-growth companies, it can be a challenge to maintain a positive, “start-up” atmosphere, but our mission is to maintain a supportive and fun culture for our staff, no matter how fast we grow.

Being honored as one of Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work is both humbling and exciting. It validates that we are doing the right things as a company and with our culture by allowing our employees to feel empowered. The outcome of that is that we end up with happy employees and happy, engaged customers as well. It’s a truly exciting time for us as a company. It also validates the growth that we’ve had in 2015 and keeps us inspired to keep growing in 2016, while continuing to be a great place to work.

The importance of Salesforce Chatter

All of our applications are built 100% on the Salesforce App Cloud, so we are big proponents of Salesforce Chatter - not just for our customers, but internally as well. We use it to facilitate open discussions, provide feedback, keep everything on customer records in one place and generally keep in touch on everything that matters as an organization. Chatter has been a key driver of open communication and transparency within our company.

The power of giving back

One of the key perks at FinancialForce is the opportunity to give back to our communities through the FinancialForce4Good program. Every quarter, employees from each of our offices worldwide get together for a day or two of volunteering and/or charity.

"The best part of creating a division of your business dedicated to philanthropy is the different sense of pride and accomplishment employees feel when they volunteer together and support their local communities, something that can't be found by sitting at a desk or on a conference call. The interactions and friendships our teams experience during FinancialForce4Good activities are so impactful that others in the company are continually inspired to become involved too, keeping the program rich and supported for years to come." – Jeremy Roche, CEO, FinancialForce.com

In 2015, some of our activities included the Holiday Train Food Drive in Toronto, Canada, The Great Charity Book Giveaway in association with Sunshine and Smiles in Harrogate, UK, preparing food at Project Open Hand in San Francisco, developing a 31 page recipe book for the Down Syndrome Association in Granada, Spain, and so many more activities throughout the year. In 2016, we will continue to make an impact by giving back to our communities.

Our employee success goals for 2016

Our goal for 2016 is to continue to have all of our employees involved in building and driving the culture that we have within our company. As we grow, we want to make extra certain that every single one of our employees’ voices are heard. No growing company is perfect, and that’s why we strive to listen and quickly react to everyone’s feedback.

For example, at FinancialForce.com, we have a great training program available for all employees throughout a wide range of different topics and levels. These courses were not available online earlier this year, but after receiving feedback about the value employees have obtained from these courses, and the desire from many others to access these courses online, we launched an entire catalog of courses. Employees can now watch online, anytime that is convenient for them.

Here are a few pieces of feedback we’ve received from our academy:

  • “Can't recommend this course enough. During this short training, I learned about, and adopted, the tools necessary to develop a plan towards achieving a stretch goal for myself. Looking forward to my journey!”
  • "I really appreciated being able to talk with my peers and get their perspective about my situation."
  • “Good exercises to cement the theories.”
  • “Great personal development skills.”

In 2016, we will continue to offer these important courses both in person and online. We’re currently building a large classroom-style space inside our headquarters in San Francisco so that we can provide the best possible training experience. As we grow, it’s fundamental that our employees grow with us both personally and professionally.

Hypergrowth and beyond

With the hyper growth that we’re experiencing, it’s imperative that maintaining a positive culture for all our staff remains close to our hearts – and it always will be. Cheers to an amazing 2016 with not only wildly successful employees, but customers as well.
